Kilimanjaro equipment list.

Compulsory Clothing:

Summit Jacket, synthetic or down

Summit Fleece Pants high tech

Soft Jacket, fleece or soft-shell

Waterproof Jacket, breathable

Waterproof pants, breathable (side-zipper recommended)

3 Long sleeve shirt, light-weight, moisture-wicking fabric

3 Short sleeve shirt, light-weight, moisture-wicking fabric

3 Hiking light weight pants for daily wear (convertible to shorts recommended)

Shorts (optional)

 

Footwear:

Hiking boots, waterproof, good grips

Running/cross trainer for daily wear as long as there are good grips

5 light breathable sock liners for daily wear

2 Wool (Marino ideally) over sock for summit night only or in tents

Gaiters, waterproof (optional)

 

Head-wear:

Brimmed hat, for sun protection

Warm beanie styled hat for summit

Knit hat, for warmth

Balaclava, for face coverage

Buff for face/nose wind/grit protection

Bandana (optional)

 

Underwear:

1 or 2 Long underwear (moisture-wicking fabric recommended)

7 Daily change of underwear, briefs (moisture-wicking fabric recommended)

2 to 4 Sport bras (women)

 

Hand-wear:

Summit mitt extreme gloves, warm

Glove liners, thin, synthetic, worn under gloves for added warmth

 

Equipment

Sleeping bag, warm, four-seasons

Sleeping pad/thermo rest, self-inflating or closed-cell foam

Trekking poles

Sleeping bag liner silk, for added warmth

Small daypack, for you to carry your limited personal gear (rain jacket/pants/gloves)

Water bladder, Camel Bak type goes inside day pack

Bag (90 liters, not a back pack) (porter carries)

Day back-pack (20-25 liters) (you carry)

Head lamp, with extra batteries

Sunglasses minimum category 3

Goggles (optional, ideal for people with sensitive eyes on summit descent)

Backpack cover, waterproof (optional)

3 or 4 Stuff sacs to keep gear dry and separate (may be purchased in any outdoor shop)
